1 day old

The kittens are now over 24 hours old and doing well. All are nursing and have big full bellies. The scream like banshees when you pick them up. Tomorrow we will weigh them to get a better idea about how small they are, and what size they will mature to. Love them all already! Can't wait to watch the grow and see their personalities

First Picture

Here is a picture of the little bundles of joy! After spending a few hours with her new family, Izzie got up just long enough to use the washroom, have some food and a big drink before returning back to the babies.

Kittens

About 8 o'clock this morning Izzie started showing signs that she was in the early stages of labor. Over all acting more needy and was looking for a place to nest. We got her box all ready with soft blankets and hot water bottles. At 11:30am the first kitten (an Orange Tabby) was born. Izzie set to work cleaning it off and waking it up. Soon after another kitten was born. This one was a Brown Tabby. After a short break a third kitten made it's entrance (a Silver Tabby). Izzie settled in nursing and seemed like she was ready for a nap, and her contractions slowed down. At 1:30 the final kitten (a White one) was born. Izzie was so exhausted that I had to step in and stimulate the kitten and cut the umbilical cord. Over all Izzie did a great job and all the kittens are happy and healthy. She was a trooper and is now settled in the the box withe the babies.

Almost there!

Izzie's due date is fast approaching. She is quiet large and starting to get uncomfortable. Because she is so tiny in general, it is hard to estimate how many kittens she will have. Her belly is big but with the large amount of fur it's hard to tell she's even pregnant without putting your hands on her. Wishful thinking would be FIVE kittens, but a more realistic guess for her first litter would be two, or three. We will find out soon!

Here's the best "belly shot" we could get. Izzie was not in the mood for photos and didn't want to be held up.

Izzie X Spencer Litter

Izzie is a 1 year old Calico Miniature Persian. She has a TON of personality and is the sweetest, cuddliest cat out there. She completely embodies the Persians "Lap Cat" personality. When we got her at 9 weeks she weighed under a pound. Full grown she now weights about 5 pounds.

Spencer the stud we chose to use is a Cameo Cream Persian who weights 7 pounds (the extreme low end of the standard- especially for a male). He is a sweet cat, has a gorgeous coat and was a good match for Izzie. We do not own the stud, as we like to have the ability to diversify our lines, as opposed to breeding the same male and female together multiple times.

The breeding took place the week of Valentines Day (how romantic) which meas kittens are due April 16th to 19th. This genetic combination also means that we could potentially have kittens of ANY colour. The kittens will all have the traditional flat faces.
